Our Society's quarterly magazine, CHIPS, is sent to all members.
In sailing ships, with their miles of ropes and hawsers, the use of 'blocks' and pulleys made handling the sails and rigging much eaiser. The blocks were made by a craftsman known as a Blockmaker. This small crafted model by the late Clive Nightingale shows a Blockmaker at work and an example of his art in-situ on a warship.
HM Dockyard Chatham designed and built the Admiralty Standard Range (ASR) marine diesel engines. CDHS members have lovingly and carefully restored these ASR2 components which are now on display in the Museum.
